On Wednesday, April 17th, in Washington D.C., U.S. Representative Jesús “Chuy” García (D-IL) joined a gathering of American families with mixed citizenship statuses, along with labor, business, and community leaders. They collectively urged the Biden administration to extend work permits to long-term immigrants. Simultaneously, Representatives García, Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), and Lou Correa (D-CA) dispatched a letter to President Biden, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, and USCIS Director Ur Jaddou, outlining their proposal for extending work permits to long-term undocumented immigrants.
