Lisa Winton, CEO of Winton Machine Company (Suwanee), and Jason Rochester, a member of American Families United (Roswell), traveled to Washington, D.C. on April 16-17 for a briefing on Capitol Hill, urging the Biden administration to extend work permits to immigrants deeply integrated into American families and residents of U.S. communities. Lisa emphasized the need for extended work permits, stating, “As a manufacturer, we are grateful for our diverse workforce. My husband Jordan and I would never be in the position we’re in right now if we did not have that diverse workforce. But I’ve had open jobs for machinists for months and months now and I can’t find the workforce here. We need these extended work permits to fill these jobs.” Jason, a U.S. citizen and Teamster living in Georgia, shared his family’s heart-wrenching ordeal, saying, “Millions of children cry for their mamas and papas and are left to struggle and suffer, forced into the economic and emotional hardship of single-parent homes.”
