President Biden announced the granting of work permits to undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens, supported by the American Business Immigration Coalition and American Families United. This decision, praised by ABIC and AFU representatives, aims to support American families and address the need for immigration reform. The U.S. has 10.6 million citizens in mixed-status households, with significant contributions from long-term undocumented immigrants. The Here to Work campaign, backed by employers, labor unions, and elected officials, played a crucial role in advocating for work permits. The bipartisan support for this issue was evident, with endorsements from mayors, governors, and members of Congress. The effort culminated in the President’s announcement at the White House on June 18.
