There is a nationwide movement to expand access to work permits for long-term undocumented immigrants, and Texas leaders are at the helm. On Tuesday, April 9, at noon CST, U.S. Representatives Escobar, Garcia, Jackson-Lee; Bishop Seitz; Woody Hunt; pollster Celinda Lake; Texas business representatives; and leaders with American Families United gathered for a statewide briefing to urge President Biden to expand work authorization for long-term immigrants. This policy would protect Texas families and ensure Texas businesses have access to a strong and stable workforce. The gathering happened as the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals considered the constitutionality of SB4, which allows law enforcement to arrest people they suspect to be undocumented immigrants.
